The ancient Japanese performing art of “Noh” is registered as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Having roots that go back 1,300 years, Noh has today matured into a minimalistic and philosophical performing art peculiar to Japan.
This is a private workshop by a world-renowned Noh performer of the Kanze school. Participants will be dressed in real costumes and instruments used by Noh performers on stage, rather than tourist / rehearsal attire.
This workshop includes a photo shoot by Naoya Yamaguchi, a professional photographer with an established reputation in his “Japonism” style.

Japanese dance Workshop and Photo shoot
This workshop was established to have foreign visitors experience the true beauty of Classical Japanese Dance, which expresses sophisticated gestures and emotions even down to the dancers’ fingertips.
This is a session of orthodox Classical Japanese Dance with a strong sense of history and tradition, and should definitely not be seen as the same caliber as ordinary geisha shows and restaurant-entertainments for tourists.
The workshop is specially designed by a master of the Ogami school who has performed overseas so it is easy to understand for foreign visitors.
Learn the beauty of daily gestures and poise embedded in Japanese culture. You can also choose from a wide variety of costumes, from geisha-style kimonos to casual yukatas.
The workshop welcomes everyone including men and children.
The amazing and moving portraits shot by Naoya Yamaguchi, a professional photographer who captures the ultimate expression of his subjects, will surely be one of the best memories of your trip to Japan.

Photo shoot in traditional costume
This experience is not a routine ‘kimono rental and photo shoot’ deal. Studio DIVA, led by photographer Naoya Yamaguchi, known for his celebrity / politician portraits, and Japanese culture performances in Europe, will be in charge of hair, makeup, costumes, and photography.
This is a one-of-a-kind experience where you can encounter ‘yugen’, the ethereal beauty of Japan.
Participants get gorgeous portraits of a unique atmosphere and beauty. Costumes range from geisha and "Oiran" courtesans to casual yukata.
Depending on the weather, the shoot could be on the streets of old Tokyo.
Kimonos for men are also available, so this could be an unforgettable memory of Japan for couples or families. A special experience you can only offered here! Take photos with your own smartphone or camera too. We can provide finished portraits in digital data.

Chitoshi Matsuki
Noh is an art form that expresses ‘yugen’, the interstices between the worlds of life and death.
In this workshop, an active Noh performer of the Kanze school, highly acclaimed for overseas performances, will give detailed instructions using actual costumes and instruments used in Noh.

Satsuki Onoe
Satsuki Onoe is a former member of the Takarazuka Revue, an all-female troupe immensely popular in Japan that performs a wide range of entertainment from traditional Japanese dance to musicals produced overseas, highly regarded even on Broadway. Active as a male-role dancer in the Takarazuka Revue, Onoe became a master of the Onoe school of traditional Japanese dance after leaving the troupe, and has made a name for herself appearing on TV and performing overseas.
With the wish for foreign tourists to experience authentic Japanese dance, Onoe today focuses on special experience programs. Taking advantage of her wide artistic range, Onoe offers workshops that incorporate the quintessence and aesthetics of authentic Japanese dance, in a way that is easy for foreigners to understand.
Onoe is also active overseas, including an appearance at the Washington Cherry Blossom Festival, and staging the "Takarabune: Takarazuka OG Performance" in Taiwan. Her light-hearted talk and cheerfulness offer a low-key introduction to genuine Japanese culture for foreigners.

Enter a special world where you can experience the distinctive Japonism style of photographer Naoya Yamaguchi, who portrays human beauty through his subjects in the entertainment and political worlds, and international beauty pageants.
This session includes hairstyling and makeup, dressing of costumes, and a photo shoot. Take home a professional Japanese style portrait as your souvenir of Japan.
This is an experience that pursues real beauty, something much deeper than your run-of-the-mill tourist kimono session. Kimonos for couples, families, and men are also available.

How to BOOK Special Workshops

- If you are satisfied with the date, we will make a tentative reservation.
- After the tentative reservation is confirmed, please make the payment within 14 days.
- Once payment has been confirmed, the reservation will become official.

☆Cancellation charge
・Cancellation between 60 to 30 days prior to the reservation date: ¥2,200 administration fee. (per group).
・Cancellation between 29 days to 14 days prior to the date of reservation: 50%
・Cancellation between 13 days prior to the date of reservation to the day of the event: 100%.
・No-show without notice: 100%.
☆Change of date and time
If we need to change the date or time of the workshop due to our own reasons, as a general rule we will contact you by e-mail or phone at least 7 days prior to the workshop, except in cases of unavoidable circumstances such as sudden illness of the instructor.
On such instances, we will ask you If you wish to attend or not on the new date, and if you wish not to attend, we will refund your workshop fee in full.
☆Cancellation of the workshop
In the event that the workshop is cancelled due to our own reasons, as a general rule we will contact you by e-mail or phone at least 7 days prior to the workshop, except in cases of unavoidable circumstances such as sudden illness of the instructor.
☆The workshop fee will be fully refunded.
※Unless we notify you of a change in the date or cancellation of the workshop, reasons of cancellation by the customer such as weather and transportation come under the responsibility of the customer, and will be subject to a cancellation fee. Please understand this in advance. Please be sure to arrive with plenty of time to spare.
☆How to get a refund
Except in the case of cancellation of the event or change of the date and time due to our convenience, you will be responsible for the bank transfer fee when you receive the refund, including the case where you made a mistake in the transfer amount.
